These species represent the forest’s ‘ironwoods,’ the densest and most resistant timbers. Because these are often difficult to saw and machine, they may not be suited for light furniture or general carpentry. As evidenced by their technical specs, these earn extremely high marks for strength, elasticity and stiffness.
